Warning - Tornado watch!!!!
Last week Carl decided to do a yard cleanup and trim the trees and weed eat some brush. So after much trimming, he piled it all up for the city to pick up. We had a pile of brush from trimmed tree limbs probably about 8 ft high and 10ft wide. We were surprised when the city picked it up a week early (premonition maybe?) Anyway, the yard looked good, THEN..............Wednesday night got here and the news said that we were going to get some rain and possibly some heavy thunderstorms. Well, we got two storm fronts that met and decided that this area was where they wanted to dance. We lost our electricity about 10:00 PM Wednesday evening.....we looked outside the next morning and it looked like we had just trimmed our trees again. (I guess Carl "chose" the wrong limbs to cut!) We are now on our 3rd day without electricity. There are extension cords running everywhere in the house. I didn't want to lose everything that I had just put up in the freezer, so after the first 10 hours, I went and rented a generator. No damage to our house at all, just a block from us where the power lines run along the highway is where the damage shows up. About 10 power poles were snapped at random along a 4 mile stretch. I've seen several trees uprooted, a few building smashed, but so far, no houses or any lives. It was definitely a small tornado that decided to pick and choose a few places to tap dance.
