We met up with Carl's sisters and their husbands this past weekend for a mini-reunion of the Hatton family. the oldest living family member was not able to travel to Woodville for the annual reunion, so about 55 of us decided to take it to her! It was a surprise event and she had no idea ! One of her kids just told her that they were going to take her to a new place to eat. Aunt Alavee and Uncle J.C. were totally surprised! It was great fun and we all voted to do it annually as well. Since they are 83 years old, who knows how long we will be able to enjoy their attendance. (It is amazing that I was once a kid attending these reunions and looking at the older generation and now Aunt Alavee and Uncle J.C. are the only ones that are left and then Carl and I become the generation that is the OLDEST) YIKES!!
Anyway, we had a lot of fun and as usual, everything revolves around food..... We met up with the gang Friday afternoon, checked into our rooms and decided to go to Red Lobster to eat. Just as we were eating our salads, Carolyn said "uh-oh"...poor girl, her teeth BROKE! She and Pat had to leave to go and try to find something that might repair them. They called later and had been unable to find suitable materials for repair, so Sandra, Debbie & Dudley took off to find something. This was Sandra & Dudley's solution for her......
Carolyn is such a good sport, anyway, they were able to make the repairs and the next day she was able to enjoy eating once again.
We went out the next morning to go to the reunion and as we were getting into our respective vehicles......we noticed that Carl & I had a flat. Sandra had a little air pump, so we pumped it up and drove just about a block to the tire place. They informed us that our "new" tire was having a belt separation (is that like anxiety separation?)and that they would be unable to plug it (they wanted to sell us a new one..Ha!). So, we told them to put it back on and we drove to Walmart. After waiting for another hour and a half, Walmart said that it was just at that point where it was kinda iffy about whether a plug would work or not because of the size of tear, so they would try their best, but no guarantees and also "no charge". So we were 2 hours late for the reunion and did not get to see Aunt Alavee's face when she found out what was going on, but we were at least able to be there. Had great fun and enjoyed seeing some people that Carl had not seen in 40-50years. Really enjoyable and memorable.
I missed a couple of group shots, but hopefully, I will be able to get a copy from some of the others that were taking them.
After the food and everything was winding down, the lady in the blue shirt and black pants up above (Carol), went to the piano and started playing gospel music...then we had a sing fest.........very enjoyable and fantastic voices. That good ole southern gospel music rang loud and clear!
It was getting later in the day and the guys were anxious to go to the Audit Murphy nuseum, so we headed to it. Great memorabilia and very interesting.
Then we went back and checked into a different hotel and enjoyed each others company, got up the next morning, met at IHOP along with a cousin, ate breakfast and then headed home with Carl & I making a pit stop at a tire dealership that had originally sold us our tires. After 3 hours of waiting, they gave us a brand new tire and had it changed and put on within 15 minutes, then we headed home. Since we don't travel that way that often, it was a nice scenic drive. Good weather, great companion and great scenery...what more can you ask for? Very enjoyable weekend, but...glad to be home.
