Carl's Pride & Joy (next to the grandkids, that is!)
Carl's pride and joy. He has been babying these for over 3 years now and FINALLY they are bearing fruit. Right now, they are just a tad bit smaller than a baseball and should grow to about the size of a cantalope. Carl absolutely loves them. "He" says that they are much better than a grapefruit. The ones on the tree at this time are very hard to see because they blend right in with the tree and leaves. Same color and same size, but they will really grow fast. They will be ready to harvest about November. It looks like this little tree is going to bless us with at least 10 or more according to the buds that are also showing. Hip hip hooray, maybe this will be a success. He has already stated that IF we ever move, they are going with us. LOL
PuPummelos are the largest of all citrus fruits. The Pummelo is said to be the ancestor of the grapefruit although it is much sweeter and less acidic than one. Pummelos have been a treasured food in Asia and other regions for many years. This exotic fruit is fairly round or slightly pear shaped,. The yellow rind of the Pummelo is thick and spongy and the delicate flesh ranges from pink ro rosy in color. ?The fruit generally has 11 to 18 segments, making it perfect to share.
