Gourmet night!

Several years ago, Carl & and I started doing gourmet night for family home evening. When we became empty nesters, we got with a few couples and had FHE with them, then when that wore off, we came up with the idea of gourmet night. It kinda of fell to the wayside, but we have revived it again! So, for tonight, Carl got to choose the entree and I chose the dessert. The rules are that it has to be a recipe that we have never had made before and the person that chooses it has to make it. I can almost always bet that if Carl has the entree, it will be SHRIMP something! AND if I have the dessert, it usually will be something with chocolate, BUT not tonight! I chose to make a fresh blackberry pie. I have always made the tarts and cobblers, but never made the pie. Also, the pie has cinnamon and nutmeg in it and the tarts and cobblers do not, so it was a success story. A definite keeper.

Now on to Carl's dish, he chose walnut shrimp, but changed his recipe a couple of times, it turned out fabulous and what is even better, he did it all. I just washed a few of his dishes for him, but he pulled off the very intricate recipe.

You go Ma and Pa! Looks so yummy. Walnut shrimp never settles well in my tummy but the blackberry pie made my mouth water. Way to go on the blogging Mom...I'm lovin' it!

I have really enjoyed your blog. It's a great way to get to know you better. I like the idea of gourmet night, but Wes already does a lot of cooking and tries new ideas.
